Breast Health Education

Alphonse Breast Cancer Foundation provides culturally and linguistically sensitive education and support that encourages informed decision making, patient empowerment, the diminishing of myths, and open dialogue free from shame and judgment. This results in increased instances of early detection, screening, and testing.

Our health education program not only provides access to services that might not otherwise be accessed, it also reduces health disparities that can have long-lasting repercussions.

Our Health Education events use interactive info tables or Cancer Education Bingos to teach facts and dispel cancer myths or misinformation common in the Haitian community. We aim to influence personal knowledge, behavior and attitudes toward cancer prevention, supporting prevention and early detection through culturally and linguistically specific education and navigation, and by utilizing partners to assist with event recruitment and follow-up.

After attending one of our education events, participants will better understand how to lower their cancer risk and can ensure they are caught up on their screening per age guidelines and on top of their care. They can do this on their own from what they learn from ABCF or through direct navigation from our team.

If you’re interested in training, or hosting a Bingo Educational Event at your agency, school, church, or site please contact us by email: martine@alphonsebreastcancer.foundation or call 772-626-5820.

Breast Health Education Partners

As part of the Breast Health Education program, the Alphonse Breast Cancer Foundation is partnering with local organizations to provide breast cancer education and early detection services to women at community outreaches across the country. Through these partnerships, we will be at Comunity outreaches educating women about the importance of early detection and informing them about resources that are available in their community. In some locations we will be able to offer free screening mammograms to uninsured women

The Breast Health Education Program empowers women to take control of their health by educating them about their body and providing important breast cancer resources.
